Hebrews 10

One Sacrifice of Christ Is Sufficient

1 For the Law, since it has only aa shadow of bthe good things to come and not the

form of those things itself,
One early ms they can
can enever, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually every year, fmake those who approach perfect.
2Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had gconsciousness of sins? 3But hin
Lit them there is
those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year.
4For it is jimpossible for the kblood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5Therefore, lwhen He comes into the world, He says,

mYou have not desired sacrifice and offering,
But nYou have prepared a body for Me;
6 oYou have not taken pleasure in whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin.
7pThen I said, ‘Behold, I have come
(It is written of Me in qthe scroll of the book)
To do Your will, O God.’”
8 After saying above, “ rSacrifices and offerings and swhole burnt offerings and offerings tfor sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them” (which are offered according to the Law), 9then He
Lit has said
said, “ vBehold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second.
10By
Lit which
this will, we have been xsanctified through ythe offering of zthe body of Jesus Christ aaonce for all time.

11 Every priest stands daily ministering and aboffering time after time the same sacrifices, which accan never take away sins; 12but He, having offered one sacrifice adfor
Or sins, forever sat down
sins affor all time, agsat down at the right hand of God,
13waiting from that time onward ahuntil His enemies are made a footstool for His feet. 14For by one offering He has aiperfected ajfor all time those who are
Or being sanctified
sanctified.
15And althe Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,

16amThis is the covenant which I will make with them
After those days, declares the Lord:
I will put My laws upon their hearts,
And write them on their mind,”
He then says,

17anAnd their sins and their lawless deeds
I will no longer remember.”
18 Now where there is forgiveness of these things, an offering for sin is no longer required.

A New and Living Way

19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we aohave confidence to apenter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20by aqa new and living way which He inaugurated for us through arthe veil, that is, through His flesh, 21and since we have asa great priest atover the house of God, 22let’s auapproach God with a
Lit true
sincere heart in awfull assurance of faith, having our hearts axsprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies aywashed with pure water.
23Let’s hold firmly to the azconfession of our bahope without wavering, for bbHe who promised is faithful; 24and let’s consider how bcto
Or stir up
encourage one another in love and begood deeds,
25not abandoning our own bfmeeting together, as is the habit of some people, but bgencouraging one another; and all the more as you see bhthe day drawing near.

Christ or Judgment

26 For if we go on bisinning willfully after receiving bjthe knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27but a terrifying expectation of bkjudgment and blthe fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. 28 bmAnyone who has ignored the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 bnHow much more severe punishment do you think he will deserve bowho has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean bpthe blood of the covenant bqby which he was sanctified, and has brinsulted the Spirit of grace? 30For we know Him who said, “ bsVengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “ btThe Lord will judge His people.” 31It is a buterrifying thing to fall into the hands of the bvliving God.

32 But remember bwthe former days,
Lit in which
when, after being byenlightened, you endured a great bzconflict of sufferings,
33partly by being camade a public spectacle through insults and distress, and partly by becoming
Or partners
,
cccompanions with those who were so treated.
34For you cdshowed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted cejoyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves cfa better and lasting possession. 35Therefore, do not throw away your cgconfidence, which has a great chreward. 36For you have need of ciendurance, so that when you have cjdone the will of God, you may ckreceive
Lit the promise
what was promised.

37 cmFor yet in a very little while,
cnHe who is coming will come, and will not delay.
38 co But My righteous one will live by faith;
And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.
39 But
Lit we are not of shrinking back...but of faith
we are not among those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith for the safekeeping of the soul.
